An illicit youthful liaison between a witty man about town and a woman now known for her charitable works, comes back to bite them both, at a country house weekend party twenty years later, and threatens to create a society scandal. This sparklingly witty play by Oscar Wilde was given added relevance to modern audiences with the emergence of the #metoo campaign in Hollywood and the West End.
Performances will be be held in the Centenary Theatre at the High School (see the Venue page for more details) and will at 19.30 each evening (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) plus Saturday Matinee starting at 2.30.
The play was written by Oscar Wilde and is being directed by Richard Kinder.
They started with the Players....!
We are delighted to report that two young members of Chichester Players have been cast in Chichester Festival Theatre’s next production. Matthew O’Shea and Noah Peirson will be alternating the role of Young Macduff in “Macbeth” which runs from 21 September to 26 October (Press Night 27 September) starring John Simm and Dervla Kirwan.
Both Matthew and Noah are members of CFYT and have appeared in productions for the Players. Matthew recently played Edmund in “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” and was also in “Twelfth Night”, while Noah took the role of the Boy Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol” and appeared in “All My Sons”. He also appeared in “Forty Years On” at CFT last year.
This continues a long link between CFT and the Players, starting with Leslie Evershed-Martin, who was Chairman of Chichester Players and the driving force behind the foundation of the Festival Theatre in the 1960s.
We wish both Matthew and Noah the very best of luck in this exciting venture and hope that as many friends and Players as possible will get along to support them.
