'Allo 'Allo - Summer Production
Based on the hugely popular TV comedy series, the stage version of 'Allo 'Allo follows the adventures of René, the hapless café owner in war-torn occupied France, as he and his wife, Edith, struggle to keep for themselves a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis and kept in a sausage in their cellar. René is hiding two British airmen and is endeavouring, with the help of the Resistance, to repatriate them. However, communications with London through a wireless disguised as a cockatoo add to the many embarrassments he endures in the company of his patrons. Matters come to a head with the news that the Fuhrer is to visit the town and the café becomes filled with tricksters intending to impersonate Hitler before the event. René will need all the wit he can muster to his café and his life...!
The play, was originally performed by members of the television cast at The London Palladium, has frequently been produced by amateur companies since at least the turn of the century, and is guaranteed to leave the audience laughing at its frequently ribald humour.
Rehearsals for the summer production of ‘Allo ‘Allo are now well underway and the show is starting to take shape. Further updates will posted as the rehearsals progress.
Director Romayne Brown says, “The main characters have now been fully cast but we are still looking for a couple of other parts such as the small but important bit part of the second RAF officer, some German soldiers and also cafe customers.” Actors will be expected to speak with the accent appropriate to their characters
